Questions about the WhatsApp chatbot
Do I need to install anything or leave a computer running?
No. Maya Chats runs in the cloud: the panel opens in your browser, on desktop or phone, and the bot answers your customers even with everything switched off. On your phone you keep using WhatsApp normally — just open the app at least once every 14 days, which is when WhatsApp disconnects idle linked devices.
Do I need the official WhatsApp API or Meta's approval?
No. You connect the number by scanning a QR code, like WhatsApp Web, and the bot works as a linked device. There are no templates to approve and no per-conversation fee.
Does the AI make answers up?
The agent answers from the instructions you write and the documents you upload. When the information isn't in the knowledge base, it can say it doesn't know and your team takes over.
Can I reply myself in a conversation?
Yes. Just reply from the panel or from the phone itself: the bot stops in that conversation and only comes back after the idle time you set.
What am I charged for?
Only AI replies — in real support and in panel tests. Your team's messages cost nothing. If your plan's allowance runs out, you buy one-off reply packs, valid for 30 days from purchase.
How much do the one-off packs cost?
$11 for 1,000 replies, $45 for 5,000, $82 for 10,000. The balance that expires first is the first one spent.
Can I test the bot before going live?
Yes. The Test the bot tab simulates conversations with your agent using the same instructions, FAQs and documents as real support. Each test reply uses one AI reply, just like on WhatsApp.
Does the bot message people who never wrote to me?
No. Maya Chats only replies to contacts who wrote to your number in the last 24 hours. There is no mass sending.
Can my team use the same panel?
Yes. Invite people by email as admins or agents. Agents see unassigned conversations and the ones they took over.
Is there a free trial?
The Free plan doesn't expire: connect your number and get 40 AI replies to try out — in the panel or with real customers. Replies paid with free credits carry a "powered by mayachats.app" signature at the end. We don't ask for a card to get started.
